President Muhammadu Buhari has left Abuja to Maiduguri, the capital of Borno state on Thursday, on an official visit.

It’s noteworthy to recall that on Tuesday, Governor Zulum of Borno State had praised President Buhari for the immense support and sacrifices which he has made so that the people can live in peace, harmony and progress.

He said Buhari had spent more than $50m towards the generatiob of stable and sustainable power and energy for the people of Borno State.

Save Nigeria from Buhari now, PDP Reps’ caucus cries out

Save Nigeria from Buhari now, PDP Reps’ caucus cries out

Members of the People’s Democratic Party Caucus in the House of Representatives, Wednesday have disclosed what they think is the real reason President Muhammadu Buhari withheld his assent to the amended electoral bill. They said it was to avoid electronic transmission of election results.

Decrying the insecurity in the country, thwt said Nigeria had been seized by hostage-takers-bandits and terrorists who now feed on the poor and impoverished citizens from the ransom they demanded.

In a statement signed by the leader of the Caucus, Rep. Kingsley Chinda (PDP Rivers State) in Abuja, the main opposition lawmakers requested that the President resign from his office.

Chinda said: “In the past one month Nigerians have waited on the President to give assent to the Electoral Reform Bill passed to him by the National Assembly.

“As was postulated in several quarters, he has declined assent to same, using the cost of direct primaries as a decoy. The untold reason of declining, is to avoid the electronic transmission of results which will improve the credibility of the electoral system.

“This refusal, though contemplated, has left Nigerians confounded by a President who continues to show utter disdain for the Constitution and the reform of the institutions of state. Under him, our institutions of state have regressed, to the point that the gains of previous institutions reforms, embarked by Our Great Party while in power, have been either lost to his inaction or to his deliberate ploy to leave our country worse than he met it. On this point alone, we are not convinced that he is interested in the reform of the Electoral process.”

“A ruling party that cannot conduct its national convention lacks the capacity to implement some of the innovative and people-empowering provisions of the Bill, like the direct party primaries and electronic transmission of results from the units. As an opposition caucus, we will ensure that our members exercise their power under Section 58(5) of the Constitution to veto the President whenever the National Assembly deems it fit to table the issue for discussion”

“We make bold to remind General Buhari of the saying, of that old Greek General, Chabrias the Athenian, that “an army of sheep led by a lion is more feared than an army of lions led by a sheep.

“But, our nation and its people don’t have the luxury of time to wait on General Buhari to transform from the intrepid General who is currently missing in action to the lion that leads from the front, when bandits, terrorists and kidnappers who have seized our nation by the scruff of the neck are inflicting malevolence on the nation and imposing informal rules on citizens to command obedience to their dictates”.

“Time is running out. General Buhari should save our country by waking up from his long slumber or resign now”.

The caucus further said homesteads, hamlets, villages, towns and cities have turned into killing fields for bandits, a situation which had become unbearable.

Chinda said: “Everywhere we turn, today, our dead are either being prepared for burials by families whose hearts are torn up by grief, or they are being mourned by families who can’t tell where the corpses of their loved ones are or where the killer squads will turn up next.

“Here is the stark truth of the Nigerian condition under Buhari’s ruinous rule: citizens are in a prolong, severe and intense state of mourning that has kept them stuck in acute anguish, pain and trauma.

“In his recent remark at the sidelines of the COP-26 Conference in Scotland, United Kingdom, General Buhari boasted.

“We will defeat them, one highway, one rail link- and one job- at a time”. It is over three weeks since the Conference ended, no stone of resistance has been mobilized by the General against bandits, terrorists and kidnappers.”

“The communities of Sabon Birni of Sokoto State, Kagara of Niger State, Karim Lamido of Taraba State, Katoge and Yanturaku of Katsina State, and of the north east, north west, south south and south east are witnesses to the reigns of terror”, Chinda said.

The caucus was disappointed that the President who had boasted of leading from the front was now missing in action.

“General Buhari is concerned only about his personal and family safety, and the safety of his lackeys.

“Typical of rulers in history who suffered from messianic complex, he thinks his personal survival is tantamount to the survival of the nation”

“It is this delusion that makes the governance of our country dire and costly under his rulership. There’s something more ruinous about his delusion: he promotes himself beyond his talent of statecraft.

“Like Caligula, the delusional Roman emperor in history, who ordered that ships be lined up in a double anchor to form a bridge, so he could ride his horses across the gulf of Baiae to prove the prophesy of Thrasyllus the astrologer wrong that he had no chance of emerging as an emperor “than riding over the gulf of Baiae with horses”, General Buhari is deploying scarce state resources against peaceful protesters who are calling attention to the killings in the North to prove that he is an emperor”.

Explain your connection with killings, PDP calls out APC

Explain your connection with killings ---- PDP to APC

The Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, has called out the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, to explain its connivance and its failure to stem the tide of killings in Sokoto, Niger, Katsina, Kaduna, Plateau and other parts of the country.

This was stated in a statement signed by its national publicity secretary, Debo Ologunagba, in which the main opposition party noted that “the manifest numbness of the APC leaders to bloodletting as well as the failure of the APC, as a party, to proffer any tangible solution or forcefully take its government to task on security, validate apprehensions on APC’s reported complicity in the worsened insecurity in our nation in the last six years.”

The statement read: “The PDP, standing in solidarity with Nigerians, calls out the APC to come clean on its alleged connection to killings, the benefit it derives from violence and bloodletting and why it attaches no value to human lives.

“Is it not unpardonable that while the APC had failed to show empathy on the gruesome murder of scores of travelers who were burnt alive in Sokoto state, the massacre of over 15 worshippers in Niger state, other compatriots felled in Kaduna, Katsina and other parts of the country in the last few days, its leaders and officials in government had the time to attend the turbaning ceremony of President Muhammadu Buhari’s son in the same troubled Katsina state?

“Is it also not provocative, vexatious and indeed the height of heartlessness that APC and its leaders party while Nigeria burns?

“Such callous assault on the sensibility of Nigerians which amounts to dancing on the graves of the victims of the attacks further exposes the APC as a party that is completely unfeeling to killings, attaches no value to lives and has no commitment towards the fight against terrorism in our country.

“Nigerians can recall that despite demands by the PDP, the APC and its leaders have failed to account for the “political mercenaries” they reportedly imported from neighboring countries as thugs, gangsters and hoodlums to unleash violence on Nigerians during the 2019 elections. The APC has also not explained the continued presence of a self-confessed terrorism apologist in its government.

“The least Nigerians expect of the APC is to forcefully give its government a marching order to develop wholesome strategy to proactively tackle insecurity, including targeting the source of fund to terrorists, many of which were revealed by a foreign government, yet the APC government refused to take action.

“Unfortunately, the APC as a party of selfish and blood thirsty “political bandits” does not have the commitment, readiness or capacity to do so.

“Furthermore, the PDP charges President Muhammadu Buhari to demonstrate leadership and empathy by personally visiting the troubled states in line with his campaign promise to lead the fight against terrorism from the front instead of always pushing his responsibilities to others.

“The PDP again commiserates with victims of the horrific attacks. We also urge Nigerians not to resign to despondency but continue to support one another and remain focused as we scale up our collective efforts to rescue and rebuild our nation from misrule.”

2023 Presidency: We’ll sue you to court if you fail to contest, Group tells Tinubu

Posterity will be kind to Buhari for keeping Nigeria – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, yesterday, said posterity would be kind to President Muhammadu Buhari for keeping Nigeria afloat despite the multiple challenges the country was facing.

The minister, who spoke at a press conference in Ilorin in commemoration of Buhari’s 79th birthday anniversary, revealed that the President has also set the country on a trajectory of growth.

He said: “President Buhari is a steady hand in troubled times, and that explains why presiding over the affairs of the country at a most turbulent period, he has managed to keep the nation afloat, and even set it on a trajectory of growth and development.

“As I said recently, his achievements may not seem too obvious now, especially with naysayers, sponsored attackers and desperate opposition politicians unrelenting in their craft, but posterity will surely be kind to this man, whose life has meant service to his fatherland, a man who goes to bed at night and wakes up in the morning thinking Nigeria.

“I believe God has a reason for keeping him alive when many had written him off as dead.”

He was also of the view that naysayers, sponsored attackers and desperate opposition politicians are trying to run down the president’s unprecedented achievements.

He added that “Despite a myriad of security challenges, and amidst dwindling national earnings and a crippling global pandemic, he has racked up several achievements, most of them unprecedented.

“He fought a war to keep Nigeria together, and that explains his passion for the country’s unity. It is said that everything happens for a reason. That Buhari is in charge of Nigeria at this time is not mere happenstance. His years in the military that saw him reaching the peak of his career; his various positions within and outside the military, his global exposure, his unmatched demeanour and, above all, his wisdom have all helped to stabilize Nigeria at the most difficult of times.”

Speaking about the administration’s achievements, he said that the administration had “leapfrogged Nigeria to the modern rail era, set the nation on the path of unprecedented infrastructural development, built the Second Niger Bridge that his predecessors only built on paper, gave Nigeria its first modern airport terminals in decades; provided social safety net for the poor and introduced school feeding system that has helped push up school enrollment.”

2023 Presidency: We’ll sue you to court if you fail to contest, Group tells Tinubu

2023 Presidency: We’ll sue you to court if you fail to contest, Group tells Tinubu

A group, The Disciples of Jagaban (DOJ) ,has made threats to sue to court the National Leader of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, if he doesn’t contest for the Presidency in 2023.

National Coordinator of DOJ, Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke, made this known when being interviewed by journalists. He explained that the reason why Nigerians have to take him to court was because Nigeria had suffered enough and they know Tinubu’s capacity and strategy for change.

“We know his capacity to change the scenario, his capacity to change things from negative to positive. “

“He has done it in Lagos state which supposed to be the headquarters of criminals and bandits, but he turned them into good persons.”

Politicians from across the North had converged on Kaduna Saturday, under the aegis of The Disciples of  Jagaban ( DOJ) ,to flag of sensitization of the electorate to the continuous voter registration ( CVR).

Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke disclosed their target of boosting the support base of Asiwaju Bola  Ahmed  Tinubu.

He said that the decision to sue Tinubu if he refused to contest for election was made far back in 2019.

He said that the DOJ wanted good governance and encourages Nigerians to support Tinubu.

” Presently, the DOJ remains the first and the most widely accepted political institution for Tinubu’s 2023 Presidential ambition. We however, appreciate all other groups that cane after us because we cannot do it alone, especially with the deluge of resistance and opposition towards our principal, “he said. “

“EndSars and the Yoruba nation agitators, those who focused on our principal but hidden under something deference entirely, some of us relocated back to the South West, to make sure where ever they move to we were there to preach unity, love and harmony to all other tribes living in the Yoruba land, Today we give all glory to Almighty God all the fake and fabricated journey has come to an end, “

“As at then, some Nigerians believed it was too early; but we went ahead all the same. With the support of many trained intelligentsia and many men of God in both Faith’s in our midst, we prepared for all the attacks that happened before the criminally-minded perpetrators carried them out.”

“Just a month before the botched EndSARS protests of October 2020, DOJ called for a national prayer for our principal; but, some were looking at the request as if we did not know what we were doing at that time. When the attacks began, we stood by our principal, defending him against the hijackers of the protests that many innocent Nigerians ignorantly got involved in, without knowing the real devilish mission of some of their sponsors. We thank the Almighty God for His mercies on our principal despite the evil-minded attacks.”

“When the agitation for Yoruba nation was brewing, DOJ realized that this is going to be a completely Yoruba affair; so, we moved down to Yoruba land under the umbrella of Yoruba Welfare Group (YWG) to take effective steps to counter the attackers in Yoruba land; some innocent Yorubas were also involved because it started, hidden under the umbrella of fighting against kidnapping and banditry across Yoruba land. We followed them gently and ended up preventing them from mixing the bitter truth with their fabrication of lies. We were already aware that all these would be coming.”

“We are now calling on all Tinubu supporters to get prepared because some more are still coming. Instead of trying to manipulate others if we the leading one are not grumbling not to see other behind us, why must those who are just coming want to swallow those who have been labour before your establishment of your own. Please let all Tinubu groups be focused and stop manipulating ourselves,

Today we in DOJ appreciate seeing many springing up behind us, we welcome you all,” he said.

Various groups and associations were represented on the occasion.

Present at the occasion were distinguished personalities such as Senator Mohammed Sani Saleh, Engineer Muhammad Namadi, Alhaji Dangulguli, Alhaji Lawal Meyere, among others.

Speaking in an interview with journalists on the sidelines of the voter registration sensitization exercise, Comrade Abdulhakeem Adegoke said, “From our findings, we found that millions of youths have refused to come out for the voter registration. With that, we are not safe. We need to let these young Nigerians realize that when you need a good governance, and you did not participate in the registration of those who will choose a good leader, this is totally zero. If there must be positive changes that we are talking about, its already identifying the good among the bad among us, in person of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

“We are not adopting Tinubu because he  is a Muslim or Christian or Yoruba. We adopted him because he is a leader, based on  his past experience, his past achievements and past involvement…..we adopted him based on that and  there is nothing.

“Many people come out to say why Tinubu. But they’ve not come out to say this is a candidate  better than him,” he said.

Alhaji Meyere spoke on the sensitization of the youth as if they’re not sensitised to register, the nation would be losing a colossal number of the voting population.

Engr. Namadi said they’ve begged the traditional ruler and others who were not pleased with the current political arrangement, to make themselves available and be part of the process.

Senator Sani Saleh stressed the Importance of the voter sensitization exercise. He emphasised especially the need for youths to register.

He also said leadership needs experience which is acquired over time.

“Power belongs to the people, what is that power, it is the voter ‘s card, ” he said.

The Woman leader, Maryam Baba  called on women and youths  to register and  participate actively in the political process, come 2023.

Major General Hassan Usman, retired, disclosed that even though he is a security consultant, the current situation in Nigeria made him restless.

He therefore called for all hands to be on deck to ensure that all youths of voting age, register and participate actively.

Lagos indigenes advise Sanwo-Olu to suspend planned peace walk

Some eminent Lagos State indigenes have come out to ask Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu to desist from carrying out the intended peace-walk planned for this month.

This was made known in a statement signed by their spokesman, Chief Adesunbo Onitiri, yesterday. The elders, who identify themselves as Prominent Lagos State Indigenes, worried that with the volatile economic and security situation in the country, especially in Lagos, embarking on such exercise would be suicidal.

They expressed concern that the enemy of Lagos might use the opportunity to set the state ablaze.

“We are in perilous times, most Lagosians are very angry and hungry. There is acute poverty in the land and the atmosphere is very charged and tense. The peace walk may trigger violent reactions. Let hungry sleeping dogs lie. Not at this period when most Lagosians are looking for how to put one square meal on the table and how to celebrate the Christmas season,” the statement read.

While condemning the state government’s white paper on the #EndSARS panel report, the group advised the governor to apologise to Lagosians for the many unarmed young protesters that were allegedly murdered in their prime.

You’ll destroy Nigeria with your fighter jets — Mbaka warns Buhari

Spiritual Director, Adoration Ministry Enugu (AMEN), Rev. Fr. Ejike Mbaka, has given a strict warning to President Muhammadu Buhari that the fighter jets he acquired will be used to destroy the country.

According to the cleric in a sermon at Adoration Ground in Emene, he received a message from God to warn the president that the fighter jets would lead to the country’s destruction.

Last week, President Buhari announced the receipt of new fighter jets which he explained would be used in fighting security challenges in any part of the country.

Mbaka, however, warned: “The jets you are buying are going to be used to collapse Nigeria. Please, the first person to meet President Buhari after this message, should tell him that all these jets he is buying will be used to destroy Nigeria. God told me to tell him that all these jets are going to be used to destroy Nigeria. Let him stop buying more jets and begin to build more industries.”

The cleric went on to say the president would not be awarded for killing his citizens. He advised the president to deploy resources instead on projects that would lead to job creation for citizens.

“We don’t want to hear that our children are being killed. Those bombed are Nigerians. Nobody is going to give award to a mother or a farther for killing his or her children. The solution is simple, put the round peg in the round hole and banditry will die.

“People are not agitation for nothing. Listen to the reason for their agitation. Because even in the military there is agitation. In the police, there is agitation. In the church there is agitation. In the families people are agitating. Drivers are agitating, businessmen are agitating.

“Use the money and solve the problem otherwise, you are buying jets that aggrieved people will take up and scatter you people. If it doesn’t happen soon, it will happen later. Do you know how many billions are used to buy these jets? If they put some of these billions into job creation, the youths will be busy, parents will be happy that their children are going to work and coming back.

“The spirit of God is not happy with our leaders no matter how they will want to paint it. If all the men of God will be silent, the spirit of God will not be silent. When the poor masses are crying, we the men of God should be crying with them because they are our children.”

Dave Umahi prays for a president like Buhari in 2023

Governor Dave

The Governor of Ebonyi state, Dave Umahi, has wished for another president like President Muhammadu Buhari to emerge in 2023. He opined that Nigeria needed a person with a good heart like the current president.

Governor Umahi made his wish known during an interactive session with State House correspondents after meeting with Buhari at the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

He went on to say engaging in 2023 politics now would be a distraction to both the president and state governors as it was too early.

However, he revealed that members of different political parties were working towards conceding their Presidential tickets to the region.

He said: “Well, for me, I’m very much entrenched in completing my projects.

“And I will look into politics when my tenure is remaining one year, which is from May 29 2022. And I think it is the same thing with other governors of southeast and by extension, governors of APC.

“My position about what you ask is that our people that are in those political parties are making the efforts in selling the need for south east to produce the next president.

“But I think both the governors and Mr. President should not be distracted. When the elections done and won, it should be governance. But in this country, the moment the election is completed, the next one starts is the masses that are being cheated.

“So, those whose job politics and who are not into elected position, or appointed position have all the time and the opportunity to do this canvassing. And I think that doing it and that doing it very well.

“But I continue to say that power rests in the hands of God. And God will also give us the next president who has good heart like President Buhari for the good of this country.

“We need God’s own anointing for our own anointed president for the interests and unity of this country.”
