“I join the leaders of government in appreciating all Nigerians, “especially the vibrant Nigerian youths who have borne with the long wait to resolve this impasse,” and as the government statement clearly says, the gains made from this shared national sacrifice are immeasurable.

“We hope that this is appreciated by all. The nation comes first. Once again, welcome back!”

In reaction, Nigerians demanded he stated the gains of Twitter suspension.

One of them, Onu’kwube @RayNkah, said, “‘Welcome back’? No. We didn’t go anywhere. We’ve always been here. Speak for yourself.”

Sir Ted @Deus_Ugwoke: Which impasse are you talking about, the unfortunate ban was unnecessary in the first place, we know it’s a race against time for the APC government knowing the election campaign will be around the as Twitter plays a major role for the campaign.

Proudly Nigerian @max20ebi: By taking away the rights of Nigerians to freely express themselves and critique the activities of the government of the day. You can not silence the people who are determined to make a change. May God visit you and treat you the way you and your principal are treating Nigerians

Mancity’s revenue exceeds Man United’s for first time

Accordingly to the Premier League champions, Manchester City’s revenue has exceeded arch rivals Manchester United for the first time last year. This was disclosed in their latest financial accounts on Wednesday.

City recorded club record revenue of £569.8 million ($780 million) for their title-winning 2020-21 season.

This shows a revenue increase of 19 per cent on the previous year, with an overall profit of £2.4 million.

Across Manchester, United, who finished 12 points behind City in the Premier League last term, recorded revenue of £494.1 million for the financial year ended June 30, 2021.

City’s latest figures, published in their annual report for 2020-21, showed a highly successful campaign for Pep Guardiola’s side.

They won the Premier League and League Cup and got to the Champions League final for the first time, losing 1-0 to Chelsea in Porto.

Matchday revenue fell from £41.7 million to just £700,000 due to matches being played behind closed doors during the coronavirus pandemic.

They returned again to making profits after losing £126 million in 2019-20, when the pandemic first hit.

“The season closed with the team having played 63 out of a maximum possible 64 matches, taking home the Premier League title, winning a record-equalling eight League Cups, reaching the final of the UEFA Champions League for the first time and breaking a raft of records in the process. This is not a club that gives up when the going gets tough,” City chief executive Ferran Soriano said.

“From a business perspective, we were pleased to return to profitability, having successfully navigated the revenue challenges created by the pandemic. Covid-19 did not stop us, and we continued to grow, innovate and develop new ideas.

“And while we cannot dismiss the pain of missing out on the trophy in Porto at our first ever UEFA Champions League final, we must also pause to savour the fact that Manchester City has won three of the last four Premier League titles, and are now looking ahead to what we can do to achieve even greater success in the next stage of our journey.”

Dog bites baby to death After Mum Falls Asleep

A newborn baby boy has been bitten to death by a family dog after his mum fell asleep on the sofa and his dad went out for a cigarette, it has been revealed.

The deceased, Reuben McNulty was just 14 days old when his parents’ pet dog, a Staffordshire Bull Terrier bit his head up to 23 times. He died three weeks later.

Before the incident,
Social workers had warned the parents Amy Litchfield and Dan McNulty not to leave Reuben alone with their two dogs.

But Amy, 31, was in a deep slumber next to baby Reuben, who also slept in a teddy bear bed on the sofa, while the dad, Dan had gone outside for a cigarette when the dog was savaged by one of the dogs at the family home in Yaxley, Cambs, UK.

An inquest on Tuesday, January 11, heard that neither Reuben nor the dogs were being directly supervised at the time of the attack just before 2am on November 18, 2018.

Family dog fatally bit14 day old baby on the head 23 times after mum fell asleep on sofa

Neither of the child’s parents attended the hearing.

When Dan got back in, he found the white dog called Dottie and the baby covered in blood while the baby’s mother was asleep.

Dan immediately called 999, telling the operator: “I think the f dog’s attacked him. My partner was asleep, I just heard crying.

“He’s just bleeding, you know? I was like what the f***?”

When paramedics arrived, Daniel and Amy refused to hold baby Reuben, the inquest heard.

The baby was then airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge where it was discovered he had severe brain, spinal and skull injuries. He passed on at the same hospital on December 13 – three days after life support was removed.

Simon Newbury, a veterinary forensics expert, revealed that the dog may have bitten Reuben up to 23 times in the head while shaking him around.

Mr Newbury told the inquest at Peterborough Town Hall: “It’s possible that Dottie saw Reuben as a small prey or a squeaky toy.

“It’s possible that Dottie was stimulated into a predatory drive by crying or a movement [by Reuben].

“There appears to have been no supervision of the dogs. Amy was in a deep sleep, Daniel was downstairs, outside, smoking.”

Police had arrested Dan and Amy for allegedly neglecting their child but prosecutors changed their stance and decided not to charge them in December 2020.

Both dogs were seized by police and killed after the heartbreaking incident.

Nollywood actor has made a comparison of Nigeria before and Nigeria now, judging that the country is worse than it was.

Taking to his Instagram handle, the actor posted a picture of a part of the city of Lagos in the 1960/70s. He opines that the city was looking more beautiful than it is now.

He blamed “men in uniform” for destroying the country. According to him, if present Nigeria is compared to former Nigeria, one would weep at the outcome.

Recall that the actor had earlier spoken against the ambition of Bola Tinubu to run for the 2023 Presidential election.

This recent post is speculated to be a continuation of his earlier post concerning the former governor of Lagos State.
