Chidinma Ojukwu, a young girl suspected to have killed Usifo Ataga, CEO of Super TV, has pleaded not guilty.
The 22-year-old student of the University of Lagos made the plea on Tuesday. She was arraigned with another suspect, Adedapo Quadri , who also pleaded not guilty. They were arraigned before Justice Yetunde Adesanya of the Lagos State High Court sitting at the Tafawa Balewa Square.
They were faced with counts bordering on the offences of murder, forgery and stealing, and pleaded not guilty to all.
Arraigned also was Chidinma’s sister, Egbuchu Chioma with whom was found Ataga’s iPhone 7. She also pleaded not guilty too to the 9th count of being in possession of the stolen property.
They are currently being prosecuted by the Lagos State Department of Public Prosecution, Mrs Olayinka Adeyemi.
It is pertinent to recall that Chidinma was arrested on June 24 and at first admitted killing Usifo.
She however came out with a new claim in an interview in July .
In the new confession, she denied killing him but that she had left the apartment briefly to buy some things only to find his lifeless body when she returned.
“I never had anything to do with his death. I didn’t involve anybody. I don’t know who must have come into the apartment. Definitely, somebody did but I don’t who the person is. I don’t know what happened when I left to buy food,” Chidinma said
